Indefinite article
"I buy milk" -> « j'achète DU lait » French sometimes need articles that English can do without. Are they always used? Consider an informal shopping list: "To buy: bread, milk, carrots..." Would a native frenchman write « À acheter: du pain, du lait, des carottes...» ?

In an informal shopping list - which would literally be a list of items - you could of course have just the items with or without the indefinite article:
À acheter: (du) pain, (du) lait, ...
À bientôt !
