Why is it not "Il FAISAIT beau tous le temps"? It so describes a condition that continued for the duration of the weekend and that sets the event in the weather of the sojourn.
Il a fait beau tous le temps.

I too put ‘il faisait beau’ for that reason, so it will be interesting to hear the expert answer. Be careful with ‘le temps’ though, as it is singular, so it is ‘tout le temps’ not ‘tous le temps’.
