If you are referring to an example of “faire de la danse” indicating dance lessons, that is explained in the lesson. Some activities have their own verbs - danser/nager/skier are 3 examples in the lesson. In those cases using faire de .. indicates regularity or structure to the activity.
There is no verb (aikido-), so that distinction does not apply.
