Exclamation marks

Exclamation marks

Hi, I’ve noticed that exclamation marks are used very liberally in the exercises. Is this typical of French writing (newspapers, books, magazines, etc.) or is it just something done in the exercises to make the sentences feel a little more punchy?

Bonjour Brian !

Here I have to admit it's more of a personal style.
I tend to use a lot of exclamation marks in my writing, which is probably reflective of the way I speak :)
I am nevertheless trying to rein it in a bit, so thank you for this very enlightening feedback, as I didn't realise it was so blatantly obvious!

Merci et bonne journée !
