Why can't i use ensuite instead of puis in this sentence?
"puis fera une escale à Paris avant de prendre un autre vol pour Montpellier. "

The sentence is missing a subject. Could that be the problem? Otherwise, puis and ensuite should both work here.
Hi Kaimaru,
The two adverbs are indeed very similar, but I sense a nuance.
Do you want to express "then" -- ensuite or "and then" -- puis?
I would expect to find "ensuite" used in a situation of a series of expected events.
However "puis" simply expresses the next event but not necessarily in an expected series of events.
Let's see what other contributors think.
Bonne journée
