Doing tests

I like to do the test before studying my daily lessons, so that I only have to study what I get wrong. I like to challenge myself by answering when I am not certain. Why does kwiziq recommend not answering unless I am certain.

Bonjour Paul,
When a question is left unanswered there is a smaller deduction from the overall score than if the question is answered incorrectly. For example (these numbers are arbitrary) if one leaves a question unanswered, the score reduction may be 1 to 2 points; however, if an answer is provided and that response is incorrect then the score reduction may be 4 to 5 points. So for the purposes of scoring, it is more advantageous to leave a question unanswered if one is unsure of the correct response.
J'espère que ma réponse vous aiderait.
Bonne chance et bonne continuation dans vos études en français, la langue de Molière et qui a été utilisé par le monde français depuis l’époque d’Hugues Capet
