Lave-vaisselle -- Dish washer
Machine à laver la vaisselle -- Plate washer or dishwashing machine
I believe that the former is everyday usage.

Interestingly, it is also correct that is “la (une) machine à laver la vaisselle” (féminine) but “le (un) lave-vaisselle”. The same “gender switch” occurs with “ la machine à laver” and “le lave-linge” (among others).
