I just realized that qui is used for living things, trick question eh

This question relates to:French lesson "Using [preposition] + qui/lequel/laquelle/etc = on what/behind whom/beside which/etc (French Relative Pronouns)"

Indeed, you are correct! "preposition + qui (whom)" can only apply to living things whilst "preposition + lequel / laquelle / lesquels / lesquelles" apply to both living or non-living things.
