de qui

de qui

In the quiz question

Mon frère, ________ la femme est prof, est architecte.

I originally put 'dont', then second-guessed myself and wrote 'de qui'. I was marked wrong. But in the lesson it states that de qui is also correct, just much less common.

So shouldn't it also be accepted as an answer?

Bonjour Stephanie,

Chris's answer is spot on! 'de qui' is given as half-correct because it is far less common to use it (personally, I don't) and it doesn't sound that good in French.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

De qui is, as the lesson states, much less common and doesn't sound very good in French. Maybe that's the reason its use is discouraged and not accepted as the answer?
