Bonjour Carol,
Attendre [qqn/qch] -> followed by a direct object
Attendre que + Subjonctif -> followed by a verb in Le Subjonctif
J'attends Marie = I am waiting for Marie
J'attends que Marie arrive = I am waiting for Marie to arrive
J'attends le bus = I am waiting for the bus
J'attends que le bus arrive = I am waiting for the bus to arrive
