Are Pizza names capitalised in French ?

Paul S.C1Kwiziq Q&A regular contributor

Are Pizza names capitalised in French ?

In this text we have : une petite Margarita , une grande pizza Quatre Fromages, and une petite Hawaïenne.

On the internet I am seeing a mix of Pizza names with capitalisation and without capitalisation (in French).

Should they be capitalised, or are both capitalised and uncapitalised names acceptable ?

Thanks

Paul

Bonjour Paul,

You can effectively use both version capitalized and lowercases depending on the context:

- in the exercise above, it's a about a menu and reading from a menu, so it's best to use capitalized names

une pizza Hawaïenne

- in a more formal or grammatical context, use lowercases

une grande pizza quatre fromages

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
