Another way to say "in turn"

Hello,

I wanted to ask if it's not possible to write instead of "qui est tour à tour" , "dont a son tour" ?

Also, I don't understand what the expression  "qui est tour à tour" means?

Thank you

Bonjour Dana,

- Only 'qui est tour à tour' is correct here.

- 'tour à tour' means "successively / one after the other"

Le roman, qui est tour à tour sombre et comique,... = the novel, which is in turn sombre and comical, ...

Les élèves, qui se présentent tour à tour,... the pupils, who introduce themselves one after the other,...

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
