From the above notes, I undertand "les tous livres"=all the books
and tous can be also used alone to refer to all (of something mentioned previously)
But I cannot find the explanation of "les a tous". I know it means “all of them” but what the role the "a" serves here?
Merci beaucoup!
I used "la" rather than "y," but that was considered wrong. How do I know when to use which?
When I used , it was marked out in favor of , which I never hear i conversation. However, at the end of the exercise, I see enlever used when the text is played back. Looks like an oversight or self-contradiction you can easily repair.
The directions tell us that the narrator has a typical accent from Marseille. I had no problem understanding him, with the exception of the final phrase: "surtout quand on joue contre Paris." With the liaison, the word "on" sounds like "tous/tout" or even possibly "tu" but certainly not the standard pronunciation of "on". I wanted to write "on" since that made more sense, but went with "tous", which of course was wrong. (I knew that if I wrote "on" and it was correct, that I would be less likely to remember than if I wrote the wrong word.)
My question: Was this a mispronunciation of "on" or is this an example of the Marseille accent?
Merci
Dear Aurelie,
In the sentence: Ma mere me .....ce que je m'endorme.
Why is it not "que je me suis endormi " here?
Thanks
Les enfants, curieux, ---I conjugated third person plural fureter as furettent. The correct conjugation is furetent [can't put accents here], but fureter is not on your list of eter and eler verbs that are conjugated in this way. Is this an oversight or am I missing something?
I’m wondering how you express next/the next/last/the last for the four seasons? Was unable to find an example on the site.
What is the meaning of enchaînait as it applies in this particular sentence?:
Il enchaînait les conquêtes amoureuses en évitant à tout prix de s'engager.
It doesn't seem to fit the dictionary meaning.
