Hi - Could someone explain to me why the line "he told me that he needed a new raincoat" is translated into French without the adjective "new"?  (..il m'a dit qu'il avait besoin d'un imperméable).  Thanks.  

In example question 1 of this lesson, you say: "Croyez-vous qu’il arrive bientôt ? Oui, ... crois." (Do you believe he'll get there soon? Yes, I believe so.)

Doesn't "Croyez-vous qu’il arrive bientôt?" mean "Do you think it's coming soon?".

Shouldn't it be "Croyez-vous qu'il y arrivera bientôt?"

Please help!  I'm confused!  Why is "la fois dernière" correct in this question, when there is a clause after the phrase "last time"? Thanks 😊

When last time is followed by a clause (last time I saw you), you can only use la dernière fois, never la fois dernière.

Tu étais encore avec Stéphane la fois dernière.You were still with Stéphane last time.

Tu étais encore avec Stéphane la dernière fois.You were still with Stéphane last time.

Tu étais encore avec Stéphane la dernière fois que je t'ai vue.You were still with Stéphane last time I saw you.

Why is it c'est pierre and not il est pierre?

I read this on a spead repetition program. It says:

It is windy today - c'est venteux aujourd'hui

Is this correct? Why does it use c'est insted of Il fait here?

why do you have to say " c'est plutot difficile?"  and not c'est un peu difficile?

Regarding the above please explain why the imperfect tense is used for the verb trouver (trouviez), I would have thought that either the present tense (trouvez) ... "you find out"

or the future tense (trouverez) ... "you will find out"

would correctly translate from the English text?
